July 2018 Dear Son’Spot Family,

Praise the Lord! God is still in the life changing business. It is our privilege to witness His works each day. In 1 Corinthians 3:7, the Bible says, “The one who plants and the one who waters really do not matter. It is God who matters, because He makes the plant grow, He gives the increase.” Many have received from the Lord through Bible teaching, worship, food outreach, and boardwalk outreach. It is a great summer (our 38th) and we give God all the glory.

We gather everyday (except Wednesday) at 10am for sharing the Word and prayer, then complete work projects, and at 5pm go on the boardwalk for outreach ministry. We gather again at 8pm for Bible, prayer, and fellowship, and at 9pm worship with music and song. Additionally, the food outreach ministry includes dinner on Thursdays at 5:30pm, and breakfast on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30am. We also deliver food bags and minister to people in their homes each week. And we meet on Sunday mornings from 10am to noon.

Each morning hundreds of people come in for breakfast. They are mostly international students here to work for the summer. We pray with them, love them, and share the Gospel of Jesus with them at the tables and from the front. Similar ministry occurs with the Thursday dinner while serving several hundred people. The reason for the food ministry is not to physically feed people, but to provide the opportunity to lift up the name of Jesus to our guests.

The Lord has sent people to help serve and minister in all these areas. Our desire at every occasion is to lift up the name of Jesus (John 12:32) and for God to move and minister as HE desires. Zechariah 4:6 says, “Not by might, not by power, but by My Spirit says the Lord”.

Good News Reports From Visiting Mission Teams

“This week at Son'Spot was an incredible week of growth for me. This was my first mission trip. God gave me the confidence and the words to pray with multiple people. That was a new experience for me. The Lord has blessed me with amazing fellowship and the satisfaction of serving the Lord. Thank you for this opportunity.”

“I was initially not going to come on this trip, but I'm glad I changed my mind. I have really enjoyed the Bible studies here, and they have helped remind me of the importance of nourishing ourselves with God's Word, speaking His Word out loud, and watching what we say and think. I was even able to pass on some encouraging verses and things we talked about to someone I know who is going through a difficult time in their life, and they really appreciated it. Many people have been blessed this week because we came, and I'm so glad I was able to be a part of it.”

“God has worked in me with my need for patience and discipline. He has also shown me that it is good and pleasing to Him, when He wants me to step out of my comfort zone, and TRUST Him. He has also taught me that it is often more valuable to listen than to speak. I am learning more and more how important God's Word is for walking in the Spirit, instead of the flesh. Being 'armed' with the Word of God is vital, if I am to stay on the narrow path to righteousness, and bring glory to God. God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

“The teaching and encouragement each day were a blessing. I know that there are issues with our team and so many of the scriptures and comments were spot on! I would do this again in a heartbeat! I loved your team. I appreciated, with amazement, how organized you kept us and wasted no time or movement! That is appreciated. You encouraged; you didn't push! Thank you for affording us the opportunity to serve alongside you this week. God bless you, and may there be great fruit as a result of your ministry in this place!”

“It was wonderful to be with you this week. I especially loved the emphasis on God's Word and the beautiful staff members that you have. God also did work in me this week through learning to work with the team and how far I have to go yet with words and attitudes. This was a chance to practice. God Bless.”

“I came away with a renewed imperative to align my thinking with what God says, both in who I am in Christ and in how I view myself in relation to others. The Bible studies were the primary impetus for this renewal of desire to take seriously how important it is to be more purposeful in how I think.”

“God just reminded me about faithfulness and being obedient to him in everything. It could be as simple as talking to someone at the breakfast table, but to the other person it could be the moment that connects them to the Lord. 'Just do it' because God will do great, amazing things when we are obedient. God used me to connect with people and serve them.”

“As I was passing tracts out on the boardwalk, a woman came to me and said that her husband had grown up Jewish. Through this ministry he had gotten saved and now he is studying to be a pastor.”

“We were holding a sign on the boardwalk that said, 'How can we pray for you?'. A young girl approached and asked for prayer. She was unsteady in her faith and she needed prayer to show her ways to have more faith. We prayed with her and invited her to Bible study. She came that night and after reading and discussing a chapter from Proverbs and other scriptures, she prayed to come back to the Lord and rededicated her life to the Lord.”

“That same night, as we walked out of The Son'Spot, a young girl asked us for a bandaid. We brought her inside and gave her first aid and prayed for her. The girl began to cry and we again saw the move of the Holy Spirit. Praise God.”

“We went out on the boardwalk to give out tracts and talk with people about Jesus. While there, I met a group of young men who were sitting on a bench. Most of them considered themselves Christians, but they were a bit drunk and felt like joking. One of them admitted they were sinners. While asking them if they were Christians, one of them said he's nothing. I asked him again how can he be nothing and he replied again that he's nothing. I said to him that nobody creates something without a purpose, so God made him with a purpose and plan. We talked some more and then I asked if they would like me to pray for them. We prayed and in the end, the guy who said he's nothing was wiping his eyes. May God work in their life and use their youth for His Kingdom!”

“It never gets old listening to how God has changed peoples' lives and that always continues to fuel my faith and inspires me to be a light in this dark world.”

“God helped me to be more brave and courageous. I sang on stage. I also handed out pamphlets. I was really scared but God helped me to be bold for Him.” (Age 11)

“Originally I was a little disappointed in not being able to go on a foreign mission trip this year, and by default I signed up to go to Son'Spot. It looked like a lot of work in the kitchen without much eternal payback. God has opened my eyes to the potential here in Ocean City for really the fields are ripe for the harvest. We have made an eternal difference here and we have been able to be a blessing in many peoples' lives.”

“God reminded me that it all counts. Whether it's serving food, washing dishes, singing praise, or having a conversation or offering a smile. God uses all we do for Him for His Glory. ”

“I talked to a young man at the breakfast and then prayed with him to accept Jesus as Lord and savior. The students are respectfully listening to things of God and God's plan of salvation that are shared at the meals ministry.”

The scripture tells us to go into all the world and preach the Gospel. The nations of the world are here in Ocean City. People from many countries have come into The Son’Spot this summer. It is a great privilege to bless these young people each day. We greet them, share Jesus with them, and encourage them. Many have accepted Jesus into their life. Millions come to visit Ocean City each year and we are here to be available for Him. Please pray with us for the Lord to have His way in using The Son’Spot and us in Ocean City.
